Guided walks at Culag Woods and Knockan Crag in September

One of the great things about taking holidays in Wester Ross is the number of guided walks that are arranged by the Highland Rangers and others. They are usually free but donations are welcome. From the Ullapool News there are a couple of great looking walks coming up in the next couple of weeks.

The first is on Thursday 11th September at Culag Wood near Lochinver. The Highland Ranger will lead a tour exploring the wonderful selection of mushrooms and other fungi growing in the woods. Meet at Woodside car park for 10am – the walk is planned to take 3 hours; take a picnic. Details 01571 844 654.

The week after on Tuesday 16th September there is another guided walk with geologist Donald Fisher to look at the the landscape ad geology of Knockan Crag Nature Reserve. 10am – 4pm. Details from Scottish Natural Heritage on 01854 613 418.
