Hard as I’ve tried I have not been able to track down any form of website for the Ullapool News (which is the main source of information for the area). It’s a good read and easily the best way for me to keep in touch with what is going on locally but there’s nothing online.
Come on editorial team! I appreciate that a photocopied weekly newspaper has some charm but… there is this thing called the internet. It’s not difficult to use & you’d get far more readership if you put sections of the newspaper online.
The only real traditional media source I have found for the area is in the Ross-Shire Journal. One of those great local newspapers which is actively trying to embrace new technology. Every week there is a column called “Loch Broom Blethers” with local news from the area. It’s pretty good and this week covers things like what to do with the kids in Ullapool during the summer holidays & the new ferry timetables for trips to Stornoway. You can find the website here.
I would also like to commend the Ross-Shire Journal for featuring a list of local bloggers (including yours truly) in the main section of their website. There’s new media working well for you…
