One of the walks we regularly do when we have slightly older, or less fit visitors is to walk up to the Falls of Kirkaig.
The main advantage of this walk is that there are fairly well maintained paths for most of the way up and the gradients are not too steep. The final section clambering down to see the falls themselves is more difficult but even if you don’t get down to see the falls themselves the views are magnificent across to Suilven.
The start of the walk is easily accessed by car on the road that runs across to Lochinver from Achiltibuie. A great drive in its own right as I explained in my top 10 things to do in and around Achiltibuie post. There is a carpark at the base with a small bookshop and cafe just up from the road.
Full walking instructions and routes can be found on the excellent Ullapool & Assynt Walks site – the route is here.
