European Geopark Week 26th May – 7th June 2008

NW Highlands Geopark

The area around Achiltibuie and Coigach is part of the North West Highlands Geopark (status awarded in 2004 by UNESCO). It is one of 23 areas in Europe and of 35 globally that highlight a spectacular geological heritage. The Geopark website explains why this area is so interesting and unique.

Next week is European Geopark Week and there are a series of special events taking place to mark this occasion – spread over the next 2 weeks. Full details of the events are here.
